Update So someone got in contact with me and I called again and OP agreed to let me return it for a refund.I hope it goes through and I get my money back. Will keep you guys posted. So hey guys, I thought I would put this information out there so hopefully it wont happen to anyone else.On cyber monday I ordered an Aimpoint PRO from Optics Planet. I used a 12% coupon they had and the total was around $360.I received the sight the other day and it was clearly a previously used item. There was no battery in the box, papers were thrown all over and worst of all, the brightness knob was very loose (checked the screw tightness, didn't help). Someone had returned this defective unit and they had sold it to me as new.I thought no problem, let me call Optics Planet and they should let me exchange it for a new one.
WRONG!I called up Optics Planet and the employee on the line told me that they could exchange my Aimpoint for a another one, but in order to do so I would have to pay the difference between my discounted sight and the full price one.I asked why I should have to pay $60 difference when I just want an exchange of the same product? The employee then became upset with me and would not give me a straight answer other than 'thats how things work'. I asked for a supervisor, who in turn was very rude to me and totally unhelpful. I explained that I received a defective unit and I shouldn't need to pay extra to get a properly working one.It is completely unreasonable to charge someone $60 extra on no fault of their own, if they receive a defective unit.So lesson learned, if you used a coupon on Optics Planet, and something is wrong with your order, than your SOL.
Get ready to pony up and pay the difference between the sale and the actual price of the item.Screw them, they will never get my money again.Side note: with the same issue as me, who returned his PRO to Optics Planet, I may have gotten his return, who knows.TLDR: If you used a coupon on Optics Planet, and something is wrong with your order, than your SOL. Jeremy (if that is your real name) you should do everything you can to make sure this is not a recurring theme.
Having to get customer service issues resolved via internet shaming puts Optics Planet on the same footing as Comcast. Unlike Comcast, Optics Planet does not enjoy protected market shares.I am completing a long range build. It has been expensive, and I now must purchase a high quality optic. I can't take a chance on Optic Planet for the kind of money involved. There are many others like me that frequent these threads. I also have a bone to pick with optics planet.
I'll try and keep the story short. Saw that optics planet had a great deal on a Holster/mag/carrier/training barrel kit by blade tech. Bought item received it without the training barrel. OK weird first girl I talked to was hopeful that I could be sent out the training barrel submit claim wait about a week.
Call them again they look up my file and find out that blade tech does not make a training barrel for my gun. #yay I ask why the f. it was listed that way. They say something like blah blah we have apt of Items and sometimes mistakes are made.
While he is in the midst of laying out his excuse I do the research and find out that these training barrels are usually about $20 by themselves. So I say hey fine whatever just give me a $20 discount off the order so I can go get it myself. The guy says the best he can do is $4 off I ask for a supervisor same thing. Grrrr I will never order from there again and I will tell my friends not to as well.TL;DR Optics plant did not send me a $20 item that was listed as included with a package that I ordered and refused to give me more that $4 back. I had almost this exact same thing just happen with me and Midway USA with regards to some Leupold Acadia binoculars. They were shipped in a bubble mailer and the collination was way off, it looked like drunk eyes. I exchanged them but since their promotion is over they will not exchange them instead I was given Midway Dollars as a credit and told 'tough shit'.
I was able to get a full refund but am very unsatisfied with the manner in which they handled my problem. Had I known they would have given me a refund instead of the exchange I would have sent them back to Leupold. I wanna say I ordered them at the end of October and here it is in December with hunting season over and I'm pretty unhappy with Midway.
I've been meaning to do a full write up and post it everywhere I can think. After my experience I vowed to never use optics planet again.About 4 years ago I needed a new light for work. I was set on the surefire g3 kit with the holster. Optics planet had the item and I ordered it.2 days later I received a call from a optics planet rep staying that the item was on back order and could be 2-6 weeks out. I figured I would just cancel the order and pay a little more for the item somewhere else, wrong. They said I could not cancel the order without a fee. I told them I would call my bank. Called the bank and got the charges reversed, never heard anything from optics planet.Even when I see an item on amazon from optics planet I'll pay more from another seller, fuck optics planet.
Agreed the customer service is horrible - and their policies on returns, exchanges and refunds are not customer friendly. As a side note their child company DVOR.com, read the fine print there is NO refund only credit and this is true even if they screw up the order.
I recently was shipped the wrong part, so I said send me the right one and I will send this back - No we cannot do that we have to have the product first returned. They did give me a RMA for free, but a good company would have got the right product out to me right away (at least some of the smaller family shops will). So a credit for the part showed up and they called and said the part is no longer available and they could order it but it would be on back order. Forever is what I heard. So I spent the credit and said to heck with them that was strike two on returns for me. Buyer be ware - I think I will be shopping elsewhere.
